I completely sold out with your idea to use simple words in my copywriting project. Aside from this is easy to understand it makes my copy short and concise.

This post gives me a clear idea about the difference of editing and proofreading.

I've learned that proofreading is just merely a part of the editing process.

Yes, I agree that using "You" instead of "We" is far more effective. It denotes a customer-oriented than just merely an advertising-oriented ones.

[...] Bulleted lists are one potentially confusing element that an editor will correct to make consistent throughout a publication. Do you capitalise each bulleted point? Do you put a full stop or semi-colon at the end of each one? A copy editor will know the correct styles and apply them throughout the document (for more information on formatting bulleted lists see Editing and Proofreading: Bulleted Lists). [...]

Thanks so much for sharing this excellent article, which summarises the book 'How to Write Powerful Catalog Copy' and gives detailed examples. It was easy to understand and it is great, in theory, to pay more attention to the style that best suits your catalog. You should post this as a review on http://books.google.com which currently doesn't have any for this book.

Go Amanda ... I agree with you.
All design projects need to be treated individually, and yes most designs might work better with black text on white BG, but people also need to factor in the need for good design. A great designer will know exactly how to lift important copy elements off a page and factors such as colour, size, contrast with other design elements all come into play.

Great article, which I would like to complement with a 'winning' proposal construct for consulting work:

Proposal summary
1 - Introduction
2 - Your needs
3 - Our approach
4 - Work programme
5 - Timetable
6 - Team
7 - Investment required
8 - Benefits of our capabilities and knowledge
A - Terms of business
B - other detail that belongs in an appendix.

I hope this helps.
